Options assessment is ongoing. All options are under consideration, including the potential management of the River Shannon water levels using infrastructure at Lough Allen and/or Jamestown and flood defences in Carrick on Shannon and Cortober.

Hydraulic analysis is substantially complete.

Options Assessment is underway.

Hydrological analysis is now substantially complete

Environmental site surveys in Carrick on Shannon and Cortober are now substantially complete

The Geotechnical Investigation is now substantially complete.

September 2021
CCTV survey works have been completed in Carrick on Shannon and Cortober.

Topographical Survey Contractors MCDS are completing survey works in the Jamestown area of Carrick on Shannon at present.

June 2021
A barge has been mobilised on the River Shannon for a number of days in connection with the geotechnical investigation for the scheme.

May 2021
Ryan Hanley have commenced seasonal environmental surveys in Carrick on Shannon, Cortober and environs. These will be ongoing from May to August 2021.

March 2021
Leitrim County Council in conjunction with OPW is now also advancing a Flood Relief Scheme for Leitrim Village.  Further details can be found on the Leitrim County Council webpage

March 2021
Following an Initial Public and Stakeholder Consultation, a Constraints Study has been completed for the Scheme.  A copy of the Constraints Study Report is available to view at the following link.

January 2021
Priority Geotechnical Ltd commenced geotechnical investigation mid January.

December 2020
Priority Geotechnical Ltd has been appointed by Leitrim County Council to undertake a geotechnical investigation in connection with Carrick on Shannon Flood Relief Scheme.  Drilling Rigs and excavators can be expected in the Carrick on Shannon/ Cortober area over the coming weeks and months.

USA Ltd have also been appointed by Leitrim County Council to undertake pipe/ culvert inspection surveys in connection with Carrick on Shannon Flood Relief Scheme.  Survey crews will visit the Carrick on Shannon area over the coming months.

September 2020
Topographical Survey Contractors MCDS was appointed by Leitrim County Council on 10 September and are due to commence survey work in the Carrick on Shannon area in the coming weeks.

The first public consultation for Carrick on Shannon Flood Relief Scheme has commenced.  Follow this link for further details. The Public Consultation is being advertised in the Leitrim Observer, Roscommon Herald and on Shannonside News.
